Commercial Carpet

Commercial carpets are designed to provide commercial facilities with a durable flooring option while offering a softer and warmer textile finish.

What are Commercial Carpets?

Commercial carpet is a type of carpet specifically designed and manufactured for use in commercial or business environments. It differs from residential carpeting in that it is engineered to withstand heavy foot traffic, resist wear and tear, and maintain its appearance in high-traffic areas. When we refer to commercial carpet, we are referring to commercial broadloom carpet, ie sheet carpet or carpet on a roll and not carpet tiles.

The Advantages of Commercial Carpets

Commercial carpets are designed to withstand heavy foot traffic, making them highly durable and long-lasting. They offer superior comfort and sound absorption compared to hard flooring. Commercial carpets offer aesthetic versatility with a wide range of designs.

Some common places where commercial carpets are used include: offices, hotels, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, cinemas & theatres and communal areas with flats.

FAQ’s for Commercial Carpets:

How are commercial carpets installed?

Commercial carpets are typically installed using methods that ensure their durability and longevity in high-traffic environments. Two common installation techniques include:

  • Direct Adhesion to Subfloor: Commercial carpets can be glued or adhered directly to the subfloor. Depending on the condition of the subfloor, it might need preparation such as screeding to create a smooth and level surface. The direct adhesion method provides a secure and stable flooring solution, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic.
  • Durafit System: The Durafit system involves the installation of commercial-grade underlay on an easy release system. The carpet is then adhered to this underlay. This method offers additional cushioning and sound absorption, enhancing both comfort and acoustics in commercial spaces. Moreover, the easy release feature allows for the carpet to be replaced or reinstalled without damaging the subfloor, making it a flexible and convenient choice.

What sizes do commercial carpets come in?

Generally they come in a 4 metre width. Some woven carpets can also come in widths of 3.66 or 4.57 metres. Some impervious backed carpets suited for care homes and medical facilities are 2 metres in width whilst fibre bonded carpets are pretty much always 2 metres in width.

Can you get bespoke designs in commercial carpets?

Absolutely. Some carpets can be manufactured to a unique design specifically for one client. We can also create bespoke designs, shapes and borders with standard ranges.
